If you pay close attention I think all the town names in Johto are related to plants. It usually takes about three days to get to Cherrygrove, and another week to reach Violet, which is the first real city in Johto. I figure Fluttershy and I can meet you in Violet, once I've got the Fly HM we should be able to get there quite quickly.
Keep an eye out for electric and rock type pokemon on the routes. They'll be very helpful against the first gym leader, Falkner, since he uses flying types. Of course, I'm sure you plan to catch anything that you think looks cool.
