...So, turns out Twilight was right about not much in Azalea Town to begin with which is why it was a breeze getting through the Gym there and finally getting to face Falkner? He's got some crazy awesome tips when it comes to Flying Pokémon, but he was kinda stuck on Pidgeot, Noctowl, Swellow, Staraptor and Unfezant the whole time, which'll help me out a lot when I get around to finding a few more Flying types to complete what I call...The WONDERBOLT team!

Oh? The Milotic behind me? (She calls out, and Rainbow quickly pets the Pokémon before going on.) Used to belong to one of my best friends, and she finally evolved a while back! Didn't think she'd ever evolve, but she always said to make her scales look pretty...

(Anything else Rainbow was gonna say? Interrupted by two sudden events: a sudden BubbleBeam attack that left her pretty wet from her head to her neck, and most definitely her hair, and a Starly landing nearby. Rainbow's true boredom finally shows through at this point.)

...Hey! Pinkie Pie, this isn't the time for playing games! I'm letting Pinkie Pie figure out her strategy for the Gyms before we pack up, get Rarity and Spike and meet up with Twilight.

A wha-Starly? Wait a second! This could be my chance...! (She's not bored anymore. Rainbow's Milotic and Corsola vanish within seconds as both are recalled while she goes to toss another Pokeball, and a heartbeat later a Gligar -one of Rainbow's newer Pokemon, but this is his first battle- clamps down onto her head as the screen clicks off.)

Did the gym battle go swimmingly? Or was it a real dampener?

...We should call you Rainbow Splash.

[He loses it, falling over and laughing.]

(By the time Rainbow actually responds back, her hair is a little damp but still pretty wet; she's holding a Pokèball in one hand while sighing irritably. Laugh it up, little dragon-bro - she caught the Starly.)

It went swimmingly, or didn't you see my awesome badges?

[Spike was still chuckling as he stood back up - he hadn't seen Rainbow get annoyed in ages. He gave her a big grin.]

Seriously, great work on getting another badge (not that I'm surprised), and your pokemon evolved too! That's awesome!

Has Pinkie thrown you a party yet?

[He examines the pokeball in her hand]

What did you catch?

Ha, thanks. Fluttershy started it, I just made sure to keep her scales pretty.

(She laughs, spinning the Pokeball for a while on her finger before stopping it.)

I don't think anything could stop Pinkie from throwing a party. I caught a Starly!

Did she evolve during one of your gym battles?

Because that would have been pretty cool to see! Did you video the battle?

[If Rainbow Dash can't tell, Spike's a little bored in Goldenrod.]

Rarity has been really busy with her mobile boutique.

When are you guys coming back? Maybe Pinkie can throw a welcome back party haha!

(Rainbow's the one who suddenly starts laughing, though she does admit it would be cool for your Pokemon to evolve mid-battle.)

Hahaha, no way! I had a totally different idea for each of my Gym battles, and Scales didn't figure into my plans for either one. Maybe I'll use her for Mahogany when we get there...

(That's why she brought up Milotic to begin with; she's getting bored waiting for Pinkie to take on the Gyms.)

Soon Spike, I promise. And we might not stick around too long when we get back to Goldenrod; Twilight's gotta be freaking out not knowing if we're all okay or not after so long.

[Spike grins, glad that Rainbow Dash is laughing now.]

Were they tough battles? How many gyms have you beaten since you left Goldenrod? What kind of pokemon did they have?

[Way to bombard Rainbow with 20 questions, Spike. Obviously he's missing Rainbow Dash and wants story time.]

[He waves a hand nonchalantly.]

Pshhaw. I've been keeping in touch with Twilight to let her know that Rarity and I have been doing fine.

(To Spike's questions, Rainbow replies with waving her hand nonchalantly.)

Please, they weren't nearly as tough as advertised! Not Bugsy's anyway. I took down two of 'em, Azalea had Bug types and Violet has the best types ever in all of Johto: Flying types! The Gym Leader's crazy awesome!

(She'll give Spike a more or less detailed story about what Falkner told her about the best Flying Pokemon: Pidgeot, Staraptor and various others she'll want for herself one day.)

Yeah, that's why I don't go shopping with her all that much...

Ha, yeah but they were no problem for us even if it was weird facing 'em in hordes! (Twilight called them swarms.)

Nope; after Pinkie gets these badges, we'll swoop in and pick you guys up before heading back to Twilight!

Wow sounds like you had no problems! I bet you'll set some kind of gym badge collecting record!

Aw, just remember to find time and train your 'Mons like I taught you; time will pass so quickly you won't get bored! I'm sure we'll get Rarity to leave somehow.

Yeah, I’m definitely working on them like you said! Raspberry has been awesome since he evolved! He’s really strong now. He and Hans get along really well, even though Hans is so tiny next to him.

And Pinchy evolved...again. Into an even bigger flying pokemon. Seriously. As if the other flying version wasn’t bad enough.

[In a hopeful, slightly pleading voice]

Got any tips for dealing with a flying pokemon that hates baby dragons?

[Spike, preoccupied with talking about Pinchy’s evolution, misses Rainbow Dash’s emphasis on fast travel.]

Seriously? Rarity's Pokemon still hasn't evolved? Thought she would've gotten hers to evolve way before me, and I was just working on her scales!

...Wait, the last time I helped out Pinchy had evolved once, and now he's in his last stage...and still acts up?

(Cue facepalm of annoyance.)

Well...when your Pokemon gets like this, it's time for tough love! Use attacks like Stun Spore, Sleep Powder or even Sweet Scent! I don't even use Poisonpowder unless I have to, and that's only in Gym Battles!

(She used Toxic a few times in earlier Gym battles.)

[He shrugs.]

She's been working pretty hard on making him feel good.

And yeah. He hasn't changed at all.

[He listens seriously to Rainbow Dash's advice, jotting down some notes in his notebook so he doesn't forget.

I don't think my pokemon know any of those moves...

Are they from plant pokemon? Maybe I'll have to try and catch one...or maybe I can borrow Petilil from Rarity?

Does it have to be stronger than Pinchy?
